Most NRL teams are composed of players mid twenties and younger. That description certainly fits the Prairie Fire. At that age and stage in life, most of the Prairie Fire girls are still students. The four oldest students are close to leaving student life behind.
Four Prairie Fire players are nearing graduation and ready to set out into the work world. Three are education students. Lindsay Burns, Michelle Madziak and Sylvie Bohemier are all in their second year of Education. Lindsay and Michelle attend the University of Winnipeg while Sylvie is at St. Boniface College. The girls will be working hard at trying to land a teaching position for next fall. Then they will have the challenge of playing high level ringette at the same time that they are trying to get established as teachers.
Caroline Feasby has followed a different path. She is in the second year of her program to become a registered massage therapist. The course is 44 weeks a year so there is little time off. Caroline has practiced her massage skills on numerous friends and team mates. Do you think she might have a built in clientele when she graduates?
All the other students on Prairie Fire have plans for when their education is finished. They too will end up with big girl jobs.
