Biography
Britt is celebrating her 21st anniversary as a ringette player this season. It was love at first sight when she stumbled onto the ice as a Bunny in Woolwich Township at 5 years of age. A few years later, her family moved to Kitchener where she played A and AA for the next 10 years.
“In 2006, in my first year with the Turbos, we won both the first NRL championship and the Nationals as Team Ontario in the same week in Montreal. It was a dream come true playing ringette at its highest level and tasting this level of success,” says Britt.
“The NRL has been one of the best things that has happened to ringette growth. It allows players to continue to play beyond provincial ringette and has resulted in a much improved game and higher profile for the sport. I love playing in the NRL for its competition, travel, and opportunity to grow as a player. I’ve played in nearly all provinces and this year, had a wonderful chance to play internationally in the WCC in Finland.”
Britt’s favourite piece of sporting advice came from her high school rugby coach and helped inspire her tenacious checking ability. His favourite pre-game talk to get the team pumped up was to say “rip out their heart and show it to them.”
Britt has an Honours BA in English from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as a diploma in court reporting from the Canadian Centre for Verbatim Studies. She works as a freelance court reporter throughout Ontario.
