What advice would you give girls who are contemplating playing ringette? DO IT! You will live and breathe it.
What age did you begin playing ringette and how did you get started? I started playing when I was six years old. My cousins both played, but the real reason I got into the sport was because I could not do gymnastics or figure skating.
Do you consider yourself a role model to younger ringette players and why? I do consider myself a role model to younger ringette players. I have coached for the last few years, done week-long power skating sessions for the association, volunteered for fundraising jobs, encouraged players to be the best they can through my ringette experiences and supported and watched the younger age groups’ games and practices.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? It is what it is. You can’t change what happened; it’s what you do next that matters. Thanks Uncle.
How has ringette contributed to or helped you in your everyday life? Ringette teaches you many great qualities that I have implemented into my everyday life, like time management, organizational skills, teamwork, discipline, motivation and sacrifice. Just to name a few. The daily challenges as you get older are easier to overcome because of what this fantastic sport teaches you.
What is your ‘day job’? I am a R.D.H. -Registered Dental Hygienist.
What is your favourite inspirational quote? It’s not a quote it’s a word, BELIEVE.
