Meredith Warner of Winnipeg Prairie Fire has continued to record firsts amongst her teammates. Meredith is well known from her years playing on Wayne Hekle’s dominant Sixer teams. She spent a year playing Belle for Edmonton Ringette Club after high school graduation. After returning to Winnipeg, she became the first member of a young team to become a post secondary graduate. Meredith graduated as an X-ray technologist from Red River College. Meredith also became the first member of the team to start her career.
Her confidence and dedication acquired from ringette have been great assets in her new career. She is well loved by her co-workers at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre’s Diagnostic Imaging department.
Meredith recorded firsts in other areas too. Meredith and her fiancé Scott were the first to buy a house and become homeowners. So Meredith was the first one to have to deal with home owning responsibilities. Continuing to lead the way Meredith was the first on the team to get engaged. Of course, that meant that she would be the first on the team to go through the joys and challenges of wedding planning. Meredith ensured that her wedding did not conflict with Prairie Fire commitments. So on October 3, Meredith became the first team member to be married.
Team members wonder now what the next first will be. Knowing Meredith, there are many more to come.
