Cambridge Times - November 9, 2009
The 2009-10 season of the National Ringette League (NRL) is well underway and the league has announced its Elite Eight rankings, as well as its October stars.
There has been a great deal of movement based on the first month of play. The Cambridge Turbos move into the top spot after going undefeated in their first four games of the season.
Ottawa Ice went undefeated in their first five games, resulting in the biggest jump in the rankings, going from eighth place in the pre-season rankings to second place.
Calgary RATH also went undefeated and move up one spot this month to third. Montreal Mission went 4-1 in the past month, but still drop from the top spot in the pre-season rankings to fourth this month.
The Waterloo Wildfire moved up one spot to fifth.
In the Eastern Conference, the league’s first star for October is Bryanna Kelly of the Waterloo Wildfire, followed by Catherine Cartier of the Montreal Mission.
The third star was Jacqueline Gaudet of the Cambridge Turbos. Gaudet picked up 10 goals and five assists during Cambridge’s four-game winning streak.
