National Ringette League announces annual award winners

April 6, 2013 – The National Ringette League (NRL) today presented its annual awards recognizing the performance of NRL athletes and coaches during regular season play. The awards were presented at the closing ceremony of the 2013 Tim Hortons Canadian ringette championships, which have been taking place in Fredericton, New Brunswick this week.

Trophies were presented to the following:
Most Valuable Player (the player judged to be the most valuable to her team)
Jacqueline Gaudet – Cambridge Turbos

Top Centre (the most outstanding player that played predominantly the centre position)
Julie Blanchette – Montreal Mission

Top Forward (the most outstanding player that played predominantly forward position)
Chantal St-Laurent – Quebec City Cyclones

Top Defense (the most outstanding player that played predominantly the defense position)
Beth Hurren – Richmond Hill Lightning

Top Goalkeeper (the most outstanding goalkeeper)
Jasmine Leblanc – Gloucester Devils

Rookie of the Year (the most outstanding player in her first year of NRL competition)
Jennifer Gabel – Gloucester Devils

Coach of the Year (the most outstanding coach of the year)
Dave Mainwood, Head Coach, Gloucester Devils
