April 4, 2015 – The National Ringette League (NRL) today presented its annual awards recognizing the performance of NRL athletes and coaches during regular season play. The awards were presented at the closing ceremony of the 2015 Tim Hortons Canadian ringette championships, which have been taking place in Wood Buffalo, Alberta this week.
Trophies were presented to the following:
Most Valuable Player (the player judged to be the most valuable to her team)
Chantal St-Laurent – Gatineau Fusion
Top Centre (the most outstanding player that played predominantly the centre position)
Julie Blanchette – Montreal Mission
Top Forward (the most outstanding player that played predominantly forward position)
Jacqueline Gaudet – Cambridge Turbos
Top Defense (the most outstanding player that played predominantly the defense position)
Beth Hurren – Richmond Hill Lightning
Top Goalkeeper (the most outstanding goalkeeper)
Meghan Pittaway – Cambridge Turbos
Rookie of the Year (the most outstanding player in her first year of NRL competition)
Nina Tajbakhsh – BC Thunder
Coaching Staff of the Year (the most outstanding coaching staff group of the year, this award is voted on by the teams)
Lac St. Louis Adrenaline – Martin Robitaille, head coach and Jean-Francois Ethier, assistant coach
NRL Top Scorer (the player with the highest points-per-game ratio for the season)
Julie Blanchette – Montreal Mission (126 points/28 games = 4.5 points/game)
NRL Scoring Champion (the player with the highest goals-per-game ratio for the season)
Chantal St-Laurent – Gatineau Fusion (75 goals/28 games = 2.68 goals per game)
