July 7, 2015 – The National Ringette League (NRL) announced today that the Edmonton Black Gold Rush will compete in the league this season. The addition of the Rush will bring the number of teams in the Western Conference to four and the number of teams in the league to 15. The league has also announced that it will be holding a series of drafts for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.
“As we enter into our upcoming season drafts, we are very pleased to welcome the Edmonton Black Gold Rush to the National Ringette League,” said Frances Losier, Ringette Canada’s Director of High Performance and Events. “The league continues to strengthen and expand, and the parity of the athletes and teams is a positive sign for ringette in Canada.”
The drafts will begin this evening with the Southern Ontario (7pm ET) and Edmonton (7pm MT) drafts. Tomorrow, July 8th, the Ottawa/Gatineau (7pm ET) and Montreal (8pm ET) drafts will take place. All NRL drafts will be live tweeted using the official National Ringette League Twitter feed, which is www.twitter.com/NRLLNR. The Twitter hashtag for the draft will be #2015nrldraft.
2015 has been proclaimed the ‘Year of Sport’ in Canada, which aims to celebrate the role that sport plays in our Canadian identity. Ringette Canada fully supports this proclamation and encourages all Canadians to celebrate sport in their communities.

The National Ringette League (NRL) is the showcase league for ringette in Canada and strives to be the premiere women’s sports league in the country.
