The 2013-2014 edition of the Richmond Hill Lightning promises to be faster, younger, and more competitive than in past years. The Bolts have been in attendance the last few years at the Canadian Ringette Championships and are now expecting to finish higher than the 5th place overall that they have achieved.
The off season has been busy and the first announcement was the recruitment of Scott and Terry Nosal to take over the head coaching duties. The have augmented their bench staff with Jerry Mazzaroto, Twan Tilemans and Shane Bury.
When it was draft day, the Lightning were able to trade with Waterloo to secure the 1st two overall picks in the draft – and selected Samantha Nosal and Paige Nosal with those two picks, making the Nosal family from St.Clements significant contributors to the Bolts, both behind the bench and on the ice. Richmond Hill also drafted St.Clements players Lisa Bury, and Lana vanFrankfoort, rounding out the St. Clements spice to the Richmond Hill mix.
With these changes, and getting Elyssa Jasper back off reserve, Richmond Hill will be fielding their deepest line up in many seasons. “We are excited to be a part of the NRL and to be part of the Richmond Hill Lightning” said Scott Nosal. Paige Nosal added “Being able to keep playing with my sister was an important consideration to joining Richmond Hill, and having Scott and Terry as coaches just makes for a bonus.“
Making change is never easy, and only time will tell if Scott and Terry can add to their already strong coaching resumes with the Richmond Hill Lightning and the NRL.
