A closer look at the Bolts

Richmond Hill Lightning (aka The Bolts) is the National Ringette League team from Richmond Hill, Ontario. The 2013/14 season is a year of changes and growth for The Bolts. Most significantly is the change in the coaching staff. Scott Nosal was named Head Coach and brings with him supporting coaches Terry Nosal, Jerry Mazzarato, and Twan Tilemans. Those familiar with the team will recognize Chuck Munro (assistant coach) and Peter Steele (team manager) who continue their support from previous years.
The average age for the team dropped significantly with the addition of some rookie talent in sisters Paige and Sam Nosal (C), Lisa Bury (F) and Lana vanFrankfoort (D). All four players are familiar with Scott’s coaching style as they played for him in St. Clements last year.

Former team Canada players, Beth Hurren (D) and Karen Duguay (D) continue to lend their talents both on and off the ice. Returning veterans on Forward are Jessica Jones, Erika Kiviaho, Sammy McIntosh, Karen McWilliams, Carling Munro and Brianna Thompson. On Defense are Lianne Davies, Samantha Hodgson and Shelby Stinson. The two Ashley’s – Steele and Miller – return to provide the last line of defense at goal.

A recent trade from the Cambridge Turbos brought Emily Bakker to The Bolts to fill the centre position rounding out the three lines. Emily will represent The Bolts on Team Canada in the International World Ringette Championships in North Bay, Ontario from December 29/13 through January 4/14.

There’s sure to be some amazing ringette displayed when Lightning strikes at Tom Graham Arena this year. Check out the home schedule and plan your weekends around supporting your Richmond Hill NRL team. We love our fans!
