It may have taken four seasons, but it is an accomplishment many teams in the National Ringette League find very difficult to fulfill; posting a win against the league powerhouse; the Montreal Mission. While on home ice, the Attack defeated the Mission on Saturday evening by a score of 10-9 and handed offensive juggernaut Montreal just their second loss of the season. It was a complete team effort as goaltender Karine Doiron posted 28 saves to secure the nod for game MVP. Twelve different Attack players posted a point on the scoreboard in the victory. Notably, Martine Caissie had a 5 point game and Josée Doiron and Joelle Proulx each chipped in 4 points.
In Saturday afternoon action, the Mission were 7-4 at the halfway marker and continued to stifle the Attack in a 14-7 win. Catherine Cartier had an 8 point effort for the visitors and Miguelle Proulx had two goals and one assist for the home team. On Sunday morning, the three game match-up came to a close with a 5-2 victory for the Mission. Joelle Proulx and Josée Doiron each scored a goal for the Attack.
The Attack now have a 5-8-1-1 record in 15 games which places them at 8th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Jenny Snowdon of Moncton remains the team’s leading scorer with 37 points in 14 games. The Attack will now close out 2014 on the road with games against the Rive Sud Revolution, Lac St Louis Adrenaline and Le Royal de Bourassa on December 20th and 21st in the Montreal region. The Attack and PEI’s Kendra O’Brien will next play at home when they meet up with Le Royal De Bourassa in Charlottetown, PEI on January 17-18th weekend.
