Atlantic Attack finishes National Ringette League regular season and turn focus to playoffs

February 19, 2011 – New Brunswick – Their first opponent of the National Ringette League playoffs has yet to be determined, but one thing is for certain, the Atlantic Attack have secured a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs as they completed their first season in the NRL in away game action.

On Saturday, the Atlantic Attack played the Whitby Wild in a close game that needed a shootout to decide the winner. The Attack lost in the 4th round of the shootout, and lost by one goal in their second Saturday game to the Waterloo Wildfire. In Sunday ringette action, the Attack suffered their second shootout loss of the weekend at the hands of the 2ND place team in the Eastern Conference, the Cambridge Turbos. In their last game of the weekend and their regular season schedule, the Attack fell to the Richmond Hill Lightning by a score of 5-3.

The Attack who currently hold 5th place in the Eastern Conference and landed themselves in the January edition of the ‘Elite Eight’ team rankings for the entire NRL will pay close attention to the standings as they look to confirm what team they will face on March 10-11th in their NRL playoff debut. The Attack will play a three game elimination series in which the winner will attempt to win the NRL league championship in Burnaby, B.C. this April.
