The BC Thunder got together as a team on Sunday March 27 to officially close off the 2015-16 season, as most of the athletes will transition into training for the 2016-17 season.
The 2015-16 season opened with promise and optimism, as the BC Thunder iced one of the youngest teams in the NRL, and youngest in their franchise’s history, with 5 players still eligible to play at the U19 level.
These talented rookies, 4 of whom won CRC in 2013, joined an experienced group of athletes many of whom played in the NRL Championship finals in either 2012 or 2013. Led by the only 2 Head Coaches to ever win a Ringette National Championship Gold Medal in BC’s history, the group was well positioned to compete.
A difficult opening schedule led to a slow start that was improved mid-season with a 5 game winning streak. With the NRL Championships a possibility, the BC Thunder were edged out in a tough 3 game series against the Edmonton Black Gold Rush.
The BC Thunder will be announcing the 2016-17 Coaching and Management Staff in the next month, and look forward to another strong campaign starting next September.
