Leger and Proulx to co-lead the Atlantic Attack bench into fifth season

The Atlantic Attack will enter their fifth season of the National Ringette League with familiar faces behind the bench. Julien Leger and Gilles Proulx have been essential pieces of the Attack coaching staff since the team’s inception and will return to lead the squad into what hopes to be a season of great success. In its four year history, the team has made the Eastern Conference playoffs on two occasions and attended the 2013 Canadian Ringette Championship as the host team.

Leger is a level three ringette coach and served as the President of Ringette New Brunswick (RNB) for the 2014-2015 season. Currently, he is a director for the RNB board. He has coached at the Atlantic Ringette Championship eleven times, the Canadian Ringette Championship six times, and attended the Canada Winter Games in 2007 as part of the coaching staff. Leger was an integral part of the founding committee which brought the National Ringette League to Atlantic Canada.

Gilles Proulx began coaching ringette in 2002 and has attended the Canadian Ringette Championships nine times winning one gold and one silver medal, and secured two gold medals at the Eastern Canadian Championship. Proulx was also the head coach of the 2015 New Brunswick Canada Winter Games Ringette team which medalled (bronze) for the first time in the province’s history. Proulx is no stranger to competition himself as he is a former QMJHL teammate of Luc Robitaille and played against NHL hall of famers, Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux. His two daughters, Joelle and Miguelle, currently play for the Atlantic Attack and his wife of twenty six years, Joanne, sits on the team’s organizing committee.

Leger works in the field of banking and finance, while Proulx works for the Department of Public Safety.

The Atlantic Attack training camp will run from September 12th to September 30th 2015 in the Greater Moncton region.
