LSL: Despite the loss, a step in the right direction

This past Saturday, the Lac St. Louis Adrenaline played host to the Montreal Mission at the Kirkland arena, and despite a valiant effort, Lac St. Louis lost by a score of 8-4. The last meeting between these two, this past September 28, resulted in a 14-1 victory by Montreal. This time, even though a loss was registered, the score was not a one way street.

After managing only 4 shots on net in the first period, and trailing 2-0, the Adrenaline got to work and offered much stronger opposition in the remaining three periods. The team closed in to 3-2 in the 2nd, 5-3 in the 3rd and 6-4 in the 4th, even ending up outshooting the Mission (44 to 37). But an empty net goal by Montreal with less than two minutes left sealed the Adrenaline’s fate.

Andrée-Anne Paquet Lajoie (a goal and an assist), Andréanne Trudeau with her first of the season, Stacey Steen and Katherine Groulx (1 goal, 2 assists) scored for Lac St. Louis. Sophie Gagnon was in front of the net for a third straight game and kept her team in the mix with some great saves. Her record is now 2-2.

"After a slow start offensively, we were still in the game after two periods and that’s what we ask of our players. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take advantage of our opportunities, which you need to do to beat a strong team like the Mission.", said assistant GM and assistant coach Jean-François Ethier.

The Adrenaline is currently sitting in 4th place in the Eastern Conference and the next game will see the powerful Cambridge Turbos come into town, Saturday October 25 at 6:15PM at the Pierrefonds Sportplexe.
