Q&A with Richmond Hill Lightning’s Shelby Stinson #13

Q- Where and how did you become involved with Ringette?

A- “I was introduced to it by a friend of my parents. Their daughter had played it while she was growing up and I had already been taking skating lessons so they had suggested it as a way to improve my skating and something fun to do. I went to a tryout for a bunny team in Ajax and made it, and then every day after school my dad took me to the arena to work on my skating and to get some extra practice time in. I loved the game and I’ve been playing ever since.”

Q- What do you most enjoy about playing at the NRL level?

A- “The level of competition, and getting a chance to play with and against some of the best players in Canada. Having that chance has allowed me to learn and grow a lot as a player.”

Q- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A- “Reading, video games, Netflix and traveling.”

Q- What advice would you give to aspiring NRL athletes?

A-“ I would say be prepared to put in the work and try new things when you practice and always give 100%.”
