The Waterloo Ringette Association is organizing a Ringette Rocks/Family Night at the NRL game scheduled for January 7th at 7:00 pm at RIM (Pillers) between the Waterloo Wildfire and the Atlantic Attack. This is the Wildfire’s feature game of the season and coincides with the first ever visit to Waterloo by the Attack.
We would like to fill the stands and have various events planned for the night. The Ringette Store, Stratford and Calgary, will be sponsoring the game so there will be lots of door prizes. The first 100 players in their team jerseys will receive a NRL Wilfire poster on which they can get Wildfire player autographs after the game.
All players, wearing team jerseys, will get into the game free. Regular NRL admission prices will apply but there will be a special family rate of $10.
We are going to give one player from the U12 rep team and one player from the U12 C team the opportunity to "Skate with the Wildfire" and one player from the U12 rep team and one player from the U12 C team the opportunity to "Skate with the Attack." The girls will get to spend time with the respective teams before the game, get ready for the game in the team dressing rooms and then participate in the warm ups.
The Association will also be running a "Bring a Fan to the Game" contest. The team that brings the most fans to the game (players included) will win a pizza party for the players, paid for by the Association. Teams and their fans will have to get organized in the lobby before the game and then enter as one group so that we can count fans.
Still in the midst of his battle with leukemia, Wildfire Media Rep, Gerry Kraemer, is expected to return to his role of game announcer and MC for the first time this season and everyone awaits his traditional opening line, "Welcome to Wildfire Country".
