The Atlantic Attack fall to the top National Ringette League team

November 27, 2011 – Miramichi, New Brunswick – The wealth of experience of the Montreal Mission assisted them in defeating the Atlantic Attack in their three game series in Miramichi this past weekend. The Mission who boast a top scoring line comprised of Julie Primard, Julie Blanchette and Stephanie Seguin from the 2007 and 2010 Team Canada Ringette roster and currently sit within the Top 5 in National Ringette League scoring dominated the Attack who have an entire roster of NRL rookies.

On Saturday, the two teams met with the Mission finding themselves quickly on their heels as Natacha Bordage opened the scoring only minutes into the first period. Jasmine Leblanc made a spectacular 41 saves, but it was not enough as the Mission came out with a 6-2 victory. In a wild Saturday evening game, the Mission came out strong by netting two quick goals and continued to score in bunches as the scoreboard by the end of the first period read 10-1 in favour of Montreal. In second period action, the hundreds of spectators erupted as Stephanie Robichaud buried an opportunity and ignited the Attack to score four quick goals within minutes as Joelle Proulx, Chantal Landry, and Jocelyne Landry all followed Robichaud’s lead. The Mission countered and posted a 13-5 victory.

On Sunday, the teams played for a third and final time which once again saw a close first period, yet, the Mission rallied in the second to defeat the Attack 7-3. The Mission now lead the entire National Ringette League as they maintain first place in the standings with 13 wins and 1 loss. The Attack currently sit 5th in the Eastern Conference and will face the 6th place Quebec City Cyclones next weekend with a 11am game in Shediac, a 7pm game in Cap-Pelé on Saturday, and a 10am back in Shediac on Sunday. The Saturday evening game in Cap-Pelé will be extra special for both Josée Doiron and Chantal Landry as it is a true home game for both players. This will be the last set of game for the Attack until the New Year when they play January 7th in Cambridge, Ontario.
