The Devils are off to nationals

The Gloucester Devils finished the regular season of 28 games with a winning percentage of 69.6 % the second highest regular season performance in franchise history. The Devils won 7 of their last 10 games.

This earned them the right to host the Gatineau Fusion in a best of three playoff series with the winning team earning the right to attend the Canadian Ringette Championships in London from April 3 to 9.

With the Fusion having their best season ever, the Devils expected excellent competition. Gatineau came out strong in the first game. With two goals by rookie Molly Lewis, both assisted by last year’s league MVP Chantal St. Laurent, the score was 2 to 2 and the end of the first period. Game on…

By the end of the second game, the Devils found themselves in the winner’s circle with the right to attend Nationals and be a member of the top eight teams in the National Ringette League.

We thank our 100 loyal fans and our sponsors Argyle Associates (Surgical Specialists in Dentistry) who attended the second playoff game. The U12 Metcalfe Hornets also cheered on their role models and received signed autograph cards from the Devils.

In the two game playoff series against the Fusion, the leading point scorers for the Devils included: Brianna Thompson (12 points), Kelsey Youldon (10 points), Allie Marcotte (8 points), Kaitlyn Youldon (6 points), Lauren McGonigal (5 points), Allie Biewald (3 points), Colleen Hagan and Katherine Mulders (each with 2 points). Goaltender, Jasmine Leblanc stopped 62 of 71 shots for a save percentage of 87.3 %.

The Devils first game at the Canadian Ringette Championships is against the Edmonton WAM on Monday, April 4th at 11 am at the Western Fair Sports Centre, 865 Florence St. in London, Ontario.
