WAM! coaching staff was not impressed to miss the NRL Championship last year. This has been evident to everyone involved from the start of the 2012-13 season. Intense tryouts moved into a serious fitness assessment, which has morphed into killer dryland workouts and demanding practices. While you can still expect to hear a lot of laughing and joking coming from the team, you may notice a new, sharper focus on the little details it takes to win. The coaching staff have devised a plan to take WAM! back to its winning ways. This younger version will be concentrating on fundamentals to limit mistakes and create executable opportunities for itself. In order to get to know each other and get ready for the season, WAM! members have been participating in many events. We were excited to help our U19 teams get ready for the World Championships with exhibition games in October. Some of our members attended the Smoky Lake Pumpkin drop and/or participated in Run for the Cure. The Gayle Shaw Memorial Ringette Fun Day will also take place in October before league play begins. WAM! begins its regular season October 27 at home against Prairie Fire.
