Wildfire edge out Lightning

Sunday afternoon in Waterloo, the Wildfire took an early lead and went on to defeat the Richmond Hill Lightning 7-5 in a tightly played Southern Ontario Division National Ringette League game. The game was tied at 3 after one period but the Waterloo squad outscored their opponents 4-2 in the final frame.
Bryanna Kelly and Amanda Somerville led Waterloo with 2 goals each. Singles from Stef McArdle, Katie Truman and Shelagh Rouse rounded out the Wildfire scoring.
Beth Hurren led Richmond Hill with two goals and an assist.
The Wildfire are strongly entrenched in second place in their division with 12 points on 6 wins and 5 losses, 6 points ahead of Richmond Hill (3-7).
The Wildfire return to home action this coming Saturday at RIM Optimist Arena in Waterloo at 6:30 pm in a 4 15-minute period match against their cross region rivals, the Cambridge Turbos.
