Saturday evening (Dec 3) at RIM Optimist the Wildfire took on the Whitby Wild in a battle for the 8th and last playoff spot in the NRL Eastern Conference.
Despite being outshot 22-9 by the dominant Wildfire in the first half, the Whitby squad made the most of their chances scoring 5 times on their nine shots to take a 5-1 lead into the 2nd half.
Again the Wildfire controlled the play, outshooting the Wild 16-5 and outscoring them 3-1 but came up short losing 6-4. With the win Whitby takes over 8th place with 10 points to Waterloo’s 8 although the Wildfire have a game in hand.
Shelagh Rouse led the Wildfire with 2 goals while co-captains Amanda Somerville and Lindsey Vivian each counted one.
