Sunday afternoon in National Ringette League action in Whitby the Waterloo Wildfire jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, leading 4-1 at the intermission and skated away with a 6-2 victory.
Co-captain Bryanna Kelly led the local squad with a hat trick. Brianna Thompson, Tawni Constantin and co-captain Lindsey Vivian each scored once.
Amanda Voisin stopped 24 of 26 Wild shots in the Wildfire cage.
The win moved Waterloo (10-11-0) into sixth place in the 13-team Eastern Conference and moved them 3 points ahead of Whitby in the battle for the 8th place, final playoff spot.
The Wildfire resume action next Sunday in Richmond Hill vs the Lightning at 11:45am at Tom Graham Arena.
The next Wildfire home game is on Saturday January 28 at 6:45 pm at RIM Park vs the Cambridge Turbos on Boston Pizza Night.
