Three weeks ago, the Winnipeg Prairie Fire received an email asking if they would purchase a crest, to wear on their jerseys in support of a 12-year-old fellow ringette player, Darah Joseph.
Darah is an exceptional athlete, an avid ringette, hockey, track and volleyball player. During the Hershey’s Provincial Track & Field competition this past spring, running the 100 meter dash, Darah struggled to cross the finish line. Darah subsequently had broken her femur (leg). Darah experienced complications and swelling to the break and on September 9, 2011 was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Prairie Fire felt that the crests were not enough to show their support for Darah so they decided to dedicate their Saturday, November 12, 2011 game at Gateway arena, against Lower Mainland Ringette League Thunder. For details of the game, see the attached poster.
Please come out and support this brave young lady and her “Journey of Hope”. There will be a short presentation at 1:15pm to the family, with the game starting at 1:30pm.
