World champion Keely Brown launches innovative ringette goalie trapper

AJAX, ON, Nov. 30 /CNW/ – Ringette goalies no longer have to settle for re-purposed hockey gear, thanks largely to  Keely Brown . Keely, who ranks among the world’s top goalies, announced today the immediate availability of her new ringette trapper. Designed and used by  Keely Brown , the ringette trapper is the first innovation for ringette goalies since the sport’s introduction in 1963.

Previously, ringette goalies only had the option of using a hockey blocker, hockey trapper or a player’s glove. Keely’s new ringette trapper addresses the sport’s unique requirements. "I wanted a goalie trapper that provided maximum protection but with the flexibility and control that allows the ring to be tossed with distance and accuracy. Obviously, it needed to conform to the game’s specifications and be purpose-built – created specifically for ringette" said  Keely Brown.

The end result is an impressive collaboration of Canadian talent. Keely, who grew up in Kitchener, Ontario and now lives in Alberta working as General Counsel for the EdmontonOilers, teamed up with NAMI. "Our company is emerging as the leading brand in ringette and we are extremely pleased to work with Keely on this initiative. As a seven-time Canadian Ringette Champion and World Ringette Champion, her input was essential in creating the best product possible" explained  Shawn Fuller, NAMI’s President.

NAMI collaborated with Keely and Canadian manufacturer, McKenney Custom Sports, to develop a high quality, made-in-Canada product. Trevor McKenney said "We listened carefully to the requirements and set out to build a ringette goalie product with the Canadian quality that a World Champion deserves and that the whole ringette community can use."

The ringette trapper is the first product in Keely Brown’s signature series with NAMI. It is available today at select sports stores and ringette specialty shops across Canada.
